Yearly Badminton Tournament of Ameritech Cup was hold at the 729 table-tennis & badminton center yesterday. This is the sixth anniversary badminton competition hold by Ameritech. Around 12:30 a.m., the players entered the GYM and checked in. The players came from Tianjin Institute for Drug Control,  CIQ,  Tianjin Medical University,  Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, Agro-environmental protection institute, Ministry of Agriculture,  Institute of Hematology, Tianjin Institute Of Industrial Biotechnology,Chinese Academy Of Scienses,  Tianjin Academy of quality inspection,  Nankai University,  Novozymes (china) Biotechnology Co., Ltd.,  China Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. etc. Many persons with familiar faces showed up, who are believed to gain enhanced badminton skills during the past year.

There were 60 players in total this year.  The competition consisted of two types of contests, which were Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. In the Men’s Doubles, there were 4 groups, 4 partners in each group. Firstly, they ran the group round-robin and the top two of each group could advance. Secondly, the top eight and the bottom eight then continued the second qualifying round. The Mixed Doubles consisted of two groups, 6 partners of each group. They also ran the round-robin at first and the top two of each group could advance. Then the qualified 4 partners continued the advance round-robin games for the final champion. 

The competition field was very lively. The results of the competition finally come after 4-hour intensive competition. In the Men’s Doubles, the players from CIQ won the final contests. The second are those from Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy Of Sciences. And the third are the players from Novozymes (China) Biotechnology Co., Ltd.  In the Mixed Doubles, it is so well - matched that neither could gain the upper hand. The two partners from Tianjin Institute for Drug Control won the champion and second of the mixed doubles. They have showed us their excellent technique and good cooperation.

Although the Badminton competition is over, the enthusiasm of the attendees continued. At Dinner, all players continued the topic of badminton Tournament, and exchanged their respective experience and skills of playing badminton.
